Heather, I hope with that last can of spray that your yellowjacket ordeal is over -- at least with that nest in your yard. Yellowjackets are bad enough when there are one or two bothering you, but it's a terrifying experience to encounter a nest. I work for the company that makes the RESCUE Yellowjacket Traps. Thank you for using them. Don't forget to put them out in the spring next year, so you can catch the queens before they have the chance to build another nest in your yard. (I'm puzzled that they appear to be escaping the trap right now. Let us know if that keeps happening.)

Glad that's resolved for now at least - yellow jackets terrify me, so it's hard to tell my daughter not to be scared, remain calm, and please-dont-wave-your-arms-like-a-lunatic-they'll-attack!

So better to kill them off, I say!

Whew! Hope it's solved!!

The last few years we had a nest in our RR ties, a few feet below the lawn level. By last summer it was huge. Tim got bitten about 6 times and I got bitten twice. We ended up calling an exterminator. He found the nest we knew about and several other small ones and killed them. Then he put in a powder that would stick to the YJs and they'd take it home and kill everyone in the nest. And he was an enviro friendly service too, so I worried less about nasty chemicals (I was pregnant and we have small kids). I wasn't brave enough last summer to do it myself!!

Since then I read that YJs are important carnivorous bugs that help control bad bugs. So I guess in the future I'll freak out less...but still discourage them from nesting near my kids!
