I've never done white river rafting, only white river canoeing. And I agree, you have to know the security rules and when canoeing, you must also learn to "read" the rapids. We were just talking about when we could ever go again. How nice that you got to go with your family. I took so many out-of-town friends the day after my wedding and one boat flipped and we had to get everyone out - no one in that boat had ever gone rafting before. I'll never forget it and I bet your sister will never forget what happened to her. Glad she's ok! I miss white water rafting, too! We were just talking about when we could ever go again.
