I agree with this. They will consider it a win-win. However, if they didn’t see this coming and didn’t understand what kind of fallout might happen, then they need to wise up fast. Bloggers have built resonance with their audience and people trust them.

Perfect post. Balanced, objective and with an incredible dose of honest truth (as usual).
If people decide to take up an offer, they need to do it conscious that the concept of “associated value” means it reflects on them. Just as celebrities choose products to endorse and stay away from because it reflects on them, so do we.
The thing is, as you have so rightly pointed out, if bloggers attending decided to do so because they believe Nestle was a good business to partner with, then all power to them and it’s a successful decision. They will consider it a win-win.
However, if they didn’t see this coming and didn’t understand what kind of fallout might happen, then they need to wise up fast. Bloggers have built resonance with their audience and people trust them. There’s a responsibility that goes with that. Because you quote confucious, I’ll quote Dumbledore: The time has come to choose between what is right, and what is easy.

Well said.
I consider Bloggers to be Brands (and I mean this is the very best way). And, as such – need to be very mindful of the company they keep. Just as I require due diligence on the part of all my clients and their partnerships — so too should bloggers require this of themselves. My grandfather used to say – “lay down with dogs and you’ll get up with fleas”. This is a good principle for all of us to remember.
