R.I.P. Make Me Laugh Monday

June 23, 2008

R.I.P.

Make Me Laugh Monday (MMLM) has become a victim of blog restructuring.  Jen, who hosted MMLM, at her blog, Absolutely Bananas, has decided to suspend it indefinitely.  I was really disappointed when I found this out, but after reading some of the comments about MMLM from her readers, I have decided to let MMLM rest in peace as well.

Oh, we had some good laughs- from the top three laughing babies, to Ellen’s thoughts on Miley, to those adorable little boys in England, one of which says, “Charlie Bit Me,” to the ever popular demotivator posters

I still think humor is important, so I will be occasionally posting funny things here, but just not every week. Jen, who is brilliant, is coming up with some new ideas, and hopefully another great carnival I can participate in.  Until then, you can find Make Me Laugh Monday now at the blog, All Things Cherished

Thanks for laughing with me.

Make Me Laugh Monday- Dinosaur & Pig (Boy Humor)

June 8, 2008

Thanks to my friend, Nicole, for posting this video on her blog.  I haven’t had a chance to show it to my boys yet, but she said her boys want to keep watching it over, and over, and just laugh and laugh.  She said it was boy humor, but I actually laughed when I watched it too- not just for boys!  It is really short (only 41 seconds) but it it is not short on a good laugh.

Be sure to visit Absolutely Bananas for more short and long laughs.  Happy Laughing!

Make Me Laugh Monday- Model Falling Down

June 2, 2008

In honor of the Sex and the City movie, which I got to see on Saturday, I decided to show an unfortunate fashion model falling down.  This has to be pretty close to being “fashion roadkill.”  What makes this even more funny are the anchors…well, you’ll see.  By the way, I loved the movie.  If you haven’t seen it yet, make sure you go.  There were lots of funny scenes in it as well.   Head over to Absolutely Bananas for more funny stuff.  Happy Laughing.

Make Me Laugh Monday- Demotivator Posters

May 26, 2008

My husband showed me this site.  Having worked in the corporate world, I was all to familiar with these “motivational” posters.  One place I worked had at least five of them in the office I worked in.  They always seemed so cheesy and bugged me.  Needless to say, I got a lot of laughs out of these Demotivators.  There are tons more on their site.  Here are some of my favorites, and happy laughing:

Apathy If we don’t take care of the customer, maybe they will stop bugging us.

Consulting If you’re not a part of the solution, there’s good money to be made in prolonging the problem.

Demotivation Sometimes the best solution to morale problems is just to fire all of the unhappy people.

Get To Work You aren’t being paid to believe in the power of your dreams.

Pessimism Every dark cloud has a silver lining, but lightning kills hundreds of people each year who are trying to find it.

Leaders Leaders are like eagles. We don’t have either of them here.

Meetings None of us are as dumb as all of us.

Discovery A company that will go to the ends of the Earth for its people will find it can hire them for about 10% of the cost of Americans.

Underachievement The tallest blade of grass is the first to be cut by the lawnmower.

Persistence It’s over, man. Let her go.

And my favorite one:

Motivation If a pretty poster and a cute saying are all it takes to motivate you, you probably have a very easy job. The kind robots will be doing soon.

Make Me Laugh Monday- The Next Survivor Series

May 18, 2008

Thanks to my friend, Mary P. for sending this- this really would be one reality TV show I’d watch every week, and I don’t think there would be a winner, unless there was a woman on the show!  Happy Laughing!

THE NEXT SURVIVOR SERIES

Six married men will be dropped on an island with one car and

3 kids each for six weeks.

Each kid will play two sports and either take music or dance classes.

There is no fast food.

Each man must take care of his 3 kids; keep his assigned house clean, correct all homework, and complete science projects, cook, do laundry, and pay a list of ‘pretend’ bills with not enough money.

In addition, each man will have to budget in money for groceries each week.

Each man must remember the birthdays of all their friends and relatives, and send cards out on time–no emailing.

Each man must also take each child to a doctor’s appointment, a dentist appointment and a haircut appointment.

He must make one unscheduled and inconvenient visit per child to the Urgent Care.

He must also make cookies or cupcakes for a social function.

Each man will be responsible for decorating his own assigned house, planting flowers outside and keeping it presentable at all times.

The men will only have access to television when the kids are asleep and all chores are done.

The men must shave their legs, wear makeup daily, adorn himself with jewelry, wear  < STRONG> uncomfortable yet stylish shoes, keep fingernails polished and eyebrows groomed.

During one of the six weeks, the men will have to endure severe abdominal cramps, back aches, and have extreme, unexplained mood swings but never once complain or slow down from other duties.

They must attend weekly school meetings, church, and find time at least once to spend the afternoon at the park or a similar setting.

They will need to read a book to the kids each  night and in the morning, feed them, dress them, brush their teeth and comb their hair by 7:00 am.

A test will be given at the end of the six weeks, and each father will be required to know all of the following information: each child’s birthday, height, weight, shoe size, clothes size and doctor’s name. Also the child’s weight at birth, length, time of birth, and length of labor, each child’s favorite color, middle name, favorite snack, favorite song, favorite drink, favorite toy, biggest fear and what they want to be when they grow up.

The kids vote them off the island based on performance. The last man wins only if…he still has enough energy to be intimate with his spouse at a moment’s notice.

If the last man does win, he can play the game over and over and over again for the next 18-25 years eventually earning the right To be called Mother!

Make Me Laugh Monday- Real Women

April 20, 2008

(This was sent to me by a friend on my parenting board- thanks Tara!)

Ladies- If you accidentally over-salt a dish while it’s still cooking, drop in a peeled potato and it  will absorb the excess salt for an instant  “fix-me-up.”

Real Women - If you over-salt a dish while you are cooking, that’s too damn bad. Please recite with me The Real Women’s motto: “I made it and you will eat it and I don’t care how bad it tastes.”

 *************************************************************
Ladies - Cure for headaches: Take a lime, cut it in half and rub it on your forehead. The throbbing will go away.

Real Women - Take a lime, mix it with tequila, chill and drink. You might still have the headache, but who the hell cares?

 *************************************************************
Ladies - Stuff a miniature marshmallow in the bottom of a sugar cone to prevent ice cream drips.

Real Women - Just suck the ice cream out of the bottom of the cone, for Pete’s sake. You are probably lying on your ass on the couch, with your feet up anyway.

*************************************************************
Ladies - To keep potatoes from budding, place an apple in the bag with the potatoes.

Real Women - Buy boxed mashed potato mix and you don’t have to worry about the potatoes growing arms and legs.

 *************************************************************
Ladies - When a cake recipe calls for flouring the  baking pan, use a bit of the dry cake mix instead and there won’t be any white mess on the inside of the cake.

Real Women - Go to the bakery - they’ll even decorate the damn thing for you. See! I’m not the only one!

*************************************************************
Ladies - Brush some beaten egg white over pie crust before baking to yield a beautiful glossy finish.

Real Women - Sara Lee frozen freakin pie directions do not include brushing egg whites over them, so don’t do it.

 *************************************************************
Ladies - If you have a problem opening jars, try using latex dish- washing gloves. They give a non slip grip that makes opening jars easy.

Real Women - Go ask the very HOT neighbor guy to do it.

 **************************************************************
And finally the most important tip….

Ladies - Don’t throw out all that leftover wine.   Freeze into ice cubes for future use in casseroles and sauces.

Real Women - What Leftover wine?? Amen!

 *************************************************************

Make Me Laugh Monday- Star Wars

April 14, 2008

I don’t think it gets much “cheesier” than this- and I am sure glad I am not in this video to have this around haunting me for the rest of my life. May the Force Be With You! Happy Laughing!
